30 Day Coloring Challenge

I've been lacking in crafty mojo recently.  I'm getting ready to pack up my craft room and take it on the road for the summer, so I wanted to find something to help me focus.  And I did - Some Odd Girl 30 Day Coloring Challenge!  A just for fun activity to get my mojo flowing again.
Yesterday, you saw the project that resulted from my coloring this weekend.  Here are the two projects that I worked on first.  
This one is day 10 - funky hair.  I think I'll do this day over and over again!  There are so many funky hair colors out there.  Hopefully, you can read my color combos in my journal.  I tried a new skin color combo that I found on pinterest.  I like the way she looks tan.  I don't like my shading on her face.

Here's day 29 - color something red.  You can see that I'm not doing the days in order :-)  I started with, what I thought, were some of the easier ones to get those creative juices flowing.  I tried a new hair color on this one too.

I've been working on my coloring this weekend.  This is my third version of 60s Mod Mae (I'll post the other two versions tomorrow - if you want to see my coloring practice).  I added a little Glossy Accents to her hairband and bracelet, which is hard to see.  I bought a Martha Stewart butterfly punch a while ago and hadn't tried it out yet.  Aren't the butterflies cute?

SOG April Challenge Card

I'm finally getting some time to craft and it's so much fun.  I ordered some washi tape and some new digis and I went to town.  I fell in love with the Spring Parade digi from Some Odd Girl and I wanted to add something expected, so I chose Woodsy Mae.  This is my attempt at Barbara's cloud tutorial.  I didn't read all the directions though and used a dark color to fill in.  Hubby says it has a strange 3D effect.

SOG DT Call

Did you see that Some Odd Girl is having a Design Team call?  I thought I would give it a go and I wanted to make a new project for the call.  I'm playing around with a different card style.  Trying to go a little more funky and also more CAS, if that makes sense.
Here's my card.  I got the SOG stamp as part of my coloring class and now I can't find the name of it anywhere.  Maybe someone can help out in the comments?  The large banner is duct tape.

I really needed to start on my Christmas cards months ago, but I'm finally getting started now.  I've started now, though.  I had Sunny Tia by Some Odd Girl colored from my coloring class.  She's not a Christmas digi, but I thought these colors would be perfect for Christmas.  I love the little banner sentiments, too!

Created from Color Basic Class

So, I haven't been around much recently. I've been traveling a lot for work - I think I'm home for a while now.  In my limited crafty time, I've been working on my coloring.  I took the Created from Color Basic Class.  Today, I'm going to share some of my class projects.  Kristy and Melissa have sign-ups for a new basic class.  I'd encourage you to take it if you're looking to improve your coloring skills. For the class, our first assignment was to color an image.  The last assignment was to color the same image.  Here are my first (left) and last (right):

We had an assignment to work on pleats.  I ended up doing this one several times.  I used the feedback I got from Kristy and Melissa on the left image to color the image on the right.  

I love coloring with red.  The red lessons were my favorite and I think my coloring has improved. I dream of someday doing pleats like Zoe and Delphine.  I'm not there yet, but I'm getting better.

The last images I'm going to share - pets.  I love the tips Melissa and Kristy taught for getting texture on animals.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!  We're headed out for a picnic this afternoon and the town fireworks.  Peanut and I are so excited!  I wanted to make a patriotic card that I could use for another occasion, so I made this birthday card.  I received Flag Wavin' Mae for participating in the Some Odd Girl Facebook day.  Thanks Kristi!  I added some papers that I had printed on my worktable from Bella Gypsy.  I'm totally in love with wavy tag sentiments right now.  Stay tuned for many wavy tags in the future!

Some Odd Girl in Orange and Blue

Here's the second card that I made today.  I love the colors for the challenge at Some Odd Girl, and they inspired me to make a card.  I used Kimono Kaylee for my card.  I added grass and flowers under her feet.  I doodled a border on the white card.  I added ribbon, a flower, and two craft pins.

**Update** - I forgot to mention, when I first posted this, that I followed Kristy's coloring tutorial for red hair.  It turned out great!

Odd-er Christmas

This is my last post for today. I had a great crafty weekend. I keep thinking I'll save projects to post later in the week, but I'm not that patient. Scroll down to see the winner of my My Memories giveaway, my first Cupcake Inspirations DT card, and my guest DT card for Corrosive Challenges.

Some Odd Girl is having a guest designer call and I had to try out. I thought these Christmas Odd Girls - Bright Lights Kaylee and Winter Mae - would be perfect with the new MIC Winter Objects to create a little scene. I wanted to focus on my coloring, so I made the image fill up the whole card. I added some MIC chippies to frame the image. Don't these girls look like they're having fun?

It's the last week for the SOG flickr challenge - keep it simple. I used Bright Lights Kaylee again - she's so fun. I tried for white lights this time using iridescent glitter. I find simple cards the hardest, but I love this one with the text-y paper.

An Odd Christmas?

It's been a weekend of sickness in our house - the first cold of the season. I've had a four day weekend, though, and I'd rather be sick at home than at work. I got my first Magnolia stamp club shipment and I haven't even had time/felt well enough to play with it!

I've been playing along with Some Odd Girl's Flickr 12 weeks of Christmas. Week three is brown paper packages tied up with string (kraft and twine). I have to admit, I totally CASE'd Kristy's card. I love the shape and the simple layout. I used SOG's Gifty Gwen, which I just love. She's perfect for the holidays and also for birthday/other present giving occasions. I stamped her on Make it Colour paper and colored her with Copics.

Make It Purple

This week at Make It Colourful we're Making it Purple. We're sponsored this week by Some Odd Girl and I'm a total fan!

Here's my purple card. I paired Snuggle Tiny Tia with Rainbow Dandelion to create this fun scene. I added a trellis from the Filigree Chipboard and covered it in purple glitter. The image is printed on Make It Colour paper and colored with Copics.

Paper Piecing

I always forget how much I like paper piecing until I get inspired by a challenge. I hadn't really tried to paper piece a digi stamp before, though. To create an outfit for Sunny Tia, I removed her white background and then layered the outline over several squares of digi paper and printed them out. From there, it's just like paper piecing with a rubber stamp. All of the papers are from my Black and Turquoise Paper Pack. I added glitter and bling to finish the card.

Bunch 'o Stuff

First things first, you have a few hours left to enter my blog candy!

Second things, I made a purple and lemon Tilda card. I wanted to try pleats and folds on a non-straight dress and work with my purple Copics. I wasn't happy with the way they blend together. I don't have the folds quite the way I want, but I am now happier with purple markers. Then I went for a complimentary color in yellow. I colored her socks first and had to ask DH if they looked like "pee" socks, but things got better when I added more yellow : ) Probably more of a story than you wanted. I went clean and simple on this card, with the addition of just a few lace doilies.

Third things, here's my journal page for the Week 4 Heart Journal with The Greeting Farm. The theme this week is The Girl in Me. I thought it would be fun to image my life in digi stamps. I used Bride Mae and Baby Snuggle Kaylee from Some Odd Girl, Isabelle and Belle from Little Miss Muffet Stamps, Zoe All Excited from Make It Crafty, Sonny Honeycloud - Poetry from Pollycraft, and 50s Sweetheart from The Greeting Farm. I put them in order of my life, me born, me as a schoolgirl, meeting DH, getting married, graduating with my PhD, and having Peanut. You may be wondering why Zoe is all dressed in orange. These are not my school colors. I was reading about academic degree colors and engineering is orange. If I'd read further, I would have discovered that a Ph.D. should be blue, regardless of the field. I like blue better, too, but she was already colored.

Some Odd Scallop Sketch

(2nd post) I'm still trying to use up leftover Christmas stash - hopefully before next Christmas! For this card I used papers from DCWV. The paper had the scalloped music notes on it. I cut it out and put it on another paper and added a ribbon and a button to match what was printed on the paper.

The image is from Some Odd Girl. I'm really into Glossy Accents for animal eyes and noses right now. The image is colored with Copics. I added a sticker to finish this card.

TLL Hidden Elements Challenge - Mid-Way Reminder

We're mid-way through the Hidden Element Challenge at The Latte Lounge. I have two new cards to share with you.

The first is a window card featuring images from Some Odd Girl. I cut a window to give a glimpse at the hidden image and sewed tulle into a ribbon to make the curtain. I colored the images with Copics. The papers are from Papercraft Inspirations (inside) and my stash (outside).

I made a little pocket on the front and put the sentiment inside. I used papers from my stash and a Prima flower.

Crafting for the Week

It just dawned on me that I needed to do all my crafting for the week today as I'll be on vacation starting on Wednesday. So, I made a few cards. I probably won't be posting much toward the end of the week.

Now, for the cards. My first card is a Thanksgiving card. The little turkey on the front is this month's freebie from Some Odd Girl. There's something about this turkey that makes me smile. The papers are all from DCWV. I used the same layout on the inside of the card for the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment. This card is perfect for Rhonda's Thanksgiving Challenge at The Latte Lounge.
