Sparkly Holiday at Make It Crafty Blog

Hi all!  It's my day to post on the Make It Crafty Blog.  I have been eyeing Fairy Tinsel for a while now, I love a fairy with glasses!  But I wasn't sure what to do about that tinsel.  It looked really hard to color.  Then, I had a thought - glitter.  I sometimes feel like I'm cheating on the MIC team when I resort to glitter.  I think if tinsel doesn't call for glitter, nothing does.

Here are the colors I used along with my image.  I liked Zoe's angel background from the other day, so I colored a background using W3, which looked good with the papers I'd chosen.  You can see I only did one layer of color on the tinsel, since I'm going to use glitter.

Here's a close-up of my colored image.

And, here's my finished card.  I added the glitter to her tinsel and the fur trim on her coat.

Cupcake Inspirations #188 sponsored by Jellypark

We have some cute friends this week at Cupcake Inspirations (photo is linked to original source).

We're sponsored this week by

I paired up this cute rabbit from Jellypark with a new paper pack I got in the Black Friday sales.  I added a button that I got for free at Penney's to make the tag.  You can see that I picked it up a little too early and the glue started to run - oops!

Happy Black Friday!

I drafted this post yesterday, but I didn't get it posted until today.  Sorry!
Did you go out shopping today?  I'm headed out with my sister early this morning.  We don't actually have a lot to buy, we just like to go out on Black Friday.  It's much less stressful if you're not trying to get THE good deal.
There are good digital scrapbooking deals to be had as well.  Cluster Queen Creations and geniaBeana have a new collab - Visions of Sugarplums.  CQC has a template grab bag with three other great designers today that I've used for my layout as well.

New Releases from Cluster Queen Creations and Juno Designs

It has been a crazy, busy weekend for me.  We decided to have a yard sale yesterday, which went well but required a lot of preparation.  On Friday, I also went to Peanut's preschool to do some chemistry experiments.  So, I'm a little late getting my weekend posting done.  This is the first post of two for today.

The Hybrid Chick Card Caravan - Thankful

Before I share my cards, I have sad personal news.  Today, I took my cat Misty to the vet to be put to sleep.  He was 16 and had stage four kidney disease.  He's been with me since he was two months old.  May he rest in peace.

We're thankful this fortnight at The Hybrid Chick Card Caravan.  I wasn't feeling very crafty this weekend, but the November Digichick Designer Collab made these cards really easy.  I love the colors.  I made two clean and simple cards.  The first uses papers and elements from the kit.

The second uses a printable card that's included with the kit.  I added papers banners and a "button."

I'd like to enter these cards in the following challenges:
1. Paper Playtime #88 - autumn colors
2. Dream Valley #45 - anything goes
3. Sentimental Sundays #128 - thanks/thanksgiving

Slightly Steampunk Christmas Card

It's my day to post on the Make It Crafty blog.  Do you struggle with backgrounds?  I admit that most of my images are just on a white background.  Of course, you can always add a MIC background and color it, which turn out fantastic.  When I saw this Steampunk Santa, I knew that I wanted to have him on a dark blue background.  I also didn't want to use tons of ink to get a really smooth background.  I started by coloring the background with B29.  I only laid down one layer of color and you can see that it's darker in some areas.

Next, I took colorless blender and put it on a small piece of terry cloth cut from an old towel.  I dabbed the towel all over the background to create even more light and dark areas.  This way, I think the background doesn't have to be colored evenly and still gives a great effect.  I think it looks like the night sky with snow falling in the background.

Here's my finished card.  I used Y28 to color most of the sleigh.  I really like this marker as it gives a really gold color.  I added a flower with a gear center for my slightly Steampunk Christmas card.

Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day!

Are you celebrating digital scrapbooking this weekend?  I know I will be.  I've already warned my family that the computer will probably suck me in for the weekend.  I think this is my third DSD post already.  I've written them at different times so I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself this weekend.
I've started already with two layouts from Cluster Queen Creations template grab bag with Scrappy Creations by Melanie.  Here are my layouts:
