1. Willow Sketchie - sketch and/or more than three brads/eyelets
2. Paper Playtime #72 - birthday card
3. Cute Card Thursday #213 - metallica

MIC - Autumn Colors

This fortnight's challenge at Make It Colourful is coloring autumn colors.  When I think of autumn, I think red, brown, and orange.  I used Aussie Outback Sheila for my card.  She looks so powerful and confident.  Looking at the sample at MIC, I see that her shirt is supposed to be open, but I thought she was wearing a bandana, so I colored the opening with orange.  I added some fall colored papers and flowers/leaves from my stash.
Copic Recipe
hair E13, E17, E19
boots, hat YR20, YR21
skin E00, E01
pants E25, E47, E29

bandana YR04, YR18

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Lollipop #68 - anything goes
2. Mad for Markers - Rs and RVs
3. Simon Says - use three different papers

MIC - Coloring Blades of Grass

I've been remiss in making DT cards for the Make It Colourful Challenges. I'm turning over a new leaf in the new year. The challenge this week is Coloring Blades of Grass. I used Cici since I thought she'd be cute in a fields (and she's one of my favorites to color). When I trimmed the image to color, I left extra space at the bottom. To make the grass, I made upward strokes starting at the bottom. I made them fairly long. I added a dark green spot under Cici's feet. Then, I trimmed off the bottom where I had the heavy parts of the marker. I borrowed this idea from Vicky.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Simon Says - spots and/or stripes
2. Paper Sundaes #102 - saturated colors

Here are the products I used for this card:

MIC - Coloring White

Would you believe I had the card done, but hadn't taken picture in time to get this posted for the Make It Colourful challenge going live this morning? When I first heard the challenge was coloring white, I thought that it would be a struggle. Luckily, some of the amazing MIC DT members uploaded their cards early and I used them for inspiration. I thought Angel and Cherub would be perfect for this challenge.
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
2. Lollipop Crafts #58 - anything goes
3. Papertake Weekly - Christmas crackers

Colouring Snow at Make It Colourful

There's a week left to enter the Make It Colourful challenge - coloring snow. I thought I would give it a try with some of the great new holiday images that Zoe has available. I used Scruffy and Cold by Light to create my scene. I will admit that I had Barbara's blog post open and was VERY inspired by her coloring. This is the first time I've tried to color the snow rather than coating it in Stickles. It's not as graceful as Barbara's coloring, but I think it's a good first start.

Sheer Clothing - AACK!

Before I get to my card, I want to remind you that you still have a few days to enter the MIC blog hop. You can find the details here. There's blog candy at each stop!

I was inspired by the MIC DT to give the sheer clothing challenge a try. I was going to let this one pass, but their beautiful projects in the gallery inspired me! I used Tilda picking peaches with Make It Crafty's Peaches of Plenty. I made some new pearl craft pins and used them on this card. They're available in several colors from my Artfire store.

It turns out peaches aren't picked in the fall...but I ended up with a fall colored card anyway. Oh, well, I love the colors.

Black and Orange at Make It Colourful

This week at Make It Colourful we're sponsored by Make It Crafty. The challenge this week is black and orange. Remember, you need to upload your challenge entry to the new gallery.
Zoe has some GREAT new Halloween images available in the store. They inspired me to make a mini Halloween album. I found some Halloween poems on the web and I thought I would decorate a page and include a poem to make a spooky book for Peanut. Here's the first page featuring Mini Headless Horseman and a poem by Jack Petrusky.
Here's a close-up of the Mini Headless Horseman.
I'd like to enter this project in the following challenges:
1. The Crafty Pad #138 - goodbye summer
2. Craft Your Passion #75 - "f" words - fall, fun, fright : )
3. Cute Card Thursday #182 - anything goes

Make It Colourful - Sunset with Clouds

This week's challenge at Make It Colourful is coloring sunsets with clouds. We're sponsored this week by Tiddly Inks.
I was a little intimidated by this challenge, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. I used Tropical Beach and added Summer Dreams to the scene. Tropical Beach already had clouds drawn in, so I thought that might be a good place to start. From there, I just started blending in pinks, oranges, and the warm grays. I added chippies from the new Hawaiian Beach set and covered them with glitter. I used a sketch from Sketch Saturday #169.
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
2. Craft Us Crazy #15 - Anything goes
3. Fun with Shapes #90 - water

Colouring Ground at Make It Colourful

This week at Make It Colourful the challenge is coloring ground. I was inspired by a card that I'd seen on Barbara's (Forgotten Scraps) blog a little while ago and I wanted to try grass for myself.

Zoe gave us a pep talk on the Make It Crafty Facebook group the other day, so I'm not as afraid to say this. This is the best coloring I've ever done. It may not be the best I'll ever do, but that's okay. I often compare myself to the other girls on the MIC team and I get discouraged, but really I should be comparing back to my earlier coloring attempts. Scrolling through my blog, I found these cards - I've come a long way on shading and depth and I'm really proud of that. Well, enough about me. I'm writing this to encourage you to get out your favorite coloring medium and join us in the challenge, if it's your first try or your 100th.

So, now on to my card. I used Pipi who is not yet available in the Make It Crafty store. Zoe gave her as a freebie on the Facebook group to try coloring with no lines (she was already greyed for convenience). I printed her on Make It Colour paper and colored her with Copics. I added grass using thin lines with three shades of green and then added in little pink flowers to match the flowers in her hair. Her hair is my current favorite color combo, it reminds me of Peanut's hair and caramels.
Copic Recipe
Dress BG11, BG13, BG15
Skin E00, E01, E11, R20
Hair (my current favorite color combo) E31, E53, E35
Flowers R81, R83, R85
Grass G12, G14, G16

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

1. Copic Creations #56 - blue greens - I used BG11, BG13, and BG15 for her dress

2. Craft Us Crazy #15 - anything goes

Make It Colourful - Wet, Wet, Wet

Sorry this is late! I thought I scheduled it, but evidently I didn't.

This week's challenge at Make It Colourful is coloring an object that looks wet. I wasn't going to play this week because I thought this was a pretty scary challenge. Then I had an idea for a page in my art journal and I thought I would give it a try. Teamie Barbara shared some helpful tips with the team (don't worry I'll have them in the tips and tricks post tomorrow) and I gave a water drop a try. I'm not totally happy, but it's not bad for a first try. You don't have to be an expert color-er to join in the Make It Colourful - just give it a try!

The image I used is A Time To Relax from Make It Crafty. I made a fairly simple page in my art journal about our family habit of going to the bathroom to find a better attitude. You don't have to "go," it's just a way to take a break.
You can sign up for my birthday candy until August 18th (DT members welcome)!

Happy Crafting!

Cast a Shadow with Make It Colourful

This week we're casting a shadow at Make It Colourful. Our sponsor this week is Some Odd Girl.
I had never really tried to color a shadow before this challenge. I looked at LOTS of cards and I thought really hard about where the light was coming from. I imagined the sun in the upper left corner of the image. I colored the side of the house that was in shadow with C3. Then, I started coloring.

The images are Fairy Mae and Bee Tia from Some Odd Girl. I used Mushroom House and Whimsical Mushroom from Make It Crafty. Who would have thought mushrooms would be so perfect? The images are printed on Make It Colour paper, which Zoe has back in stock. Yippee! It's a dream to color on.

This is my second time playing with laser cut chipboard from Make it Crafty. I used Butterflies and Leaves. I painted them with acrylic paints and then added iridescent glitter glue over the paint.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Party Time Tuesday #18 - anything goes
2. Charisma Cardz #22 - something that flies
3. By the Cute and Girly - in the garden

Happy Crafting!
