My First Digital Art Journal Page

I promised more posts about my time at Digiscrapalooza.  I went a day early and attended Art Journal Caravan Live where I met the amazing and fantabulous Tangie Baxter.  I started a mixed media art journal, which I haven't taken any pictures yet to share.  I also took Tangie's digital art journaling class.  As soon as I got home, I signed up for Art Journal Caravan.  Tonight, I made my first digital page.  My plan is to print them out and add them to my journal.  You have to start somewhere!

Long time, No Post!

Hi all!  Sorry I haven't posted in a LONG time.  I was at Digiscrapalooza last weekend and I'm still recovering.   I had a great time in Vegas - scrapping, making new friends, and learning about photography and art journaling.

I was totally inspired by Katrina Kennedy of Capture Your 365.  I've been trying to take a photo everyday playing with the camera on my iPhone and different picture apps.  You'll be able to see them on my Flickr site.  Here are the photos from the last few days.

Stay tuned for more posts about Digiscrapalooza.  I'll also be resuming regular card and digital scrapbook posts.

Jeremy Fisher from Crafter's Companion

When I saw the fun sentiments with the new Jeremy Fisher stamp from Crafter's Companion I knew I HAD to feature him for my card this week at the Crafter's Companion Blog.  I colored Jeremy using Spectrum Noir markers - you can see the recipe below my card.  I wanted to make a simple card that could be sent to a man.  I used a 1/2 sheet of letter sized gray cardstock for my base and kept it simple by using only one patterned paper. I matted the image and sentiment with the same gray cardstock.  I finished the card with two sizes of pearls in each corner.

Spectrum Noir Recipe
Water BT2, BT4, BT5
Jeremy DG2, DG4
Coat BG2, BG4
Lily pad CG1, CG2
Sky BT1

Birthday Card for Dad

Hi all!  Today, I'm sharing a birthday card on the Crafter's Companion blog - be sure to check out the other inspiration for today.  I started with Destination by Sheena Douglass.  I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.  I used warm gray on the sails - such a perfect sail color.  I used BT for the water getting lighter the farther that I got from the land.

I thought this card would be perfect for my dad's birthday this summer.  My dad loves sailboats and this stamp has a nice, masculine feel.  I added a Flowing Happy Birthday stamp.  I had a discussion during an online crafty chat about whether or not you could use pearls on a masculine card.  We decided not for little boys, but that I might be able to get away with it for my dad's card.  I had these lovely gray-blue pearls which seemed to complete the card.

Poppets for Girls and Boys

Hi all!  Today I have cute Poppet cards from Crafter's Companion for both boys and girls.  I used the same simple design for both cards and got a totally different effect.  I'll start with my ballerina card.  These stamps screamed colored pencils and gamsol to me, so that's what I did.  When I want a vintage look, I tend to reach for my pencils.

The card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  I had gingham strips that I'd purchased many moons ago and I wanted to use them for this project.  I layered the strip with pink cardstock to match my base card.  I layered my image with pink cardstock and added pink glitter over the cardstock edge.  Pink pearls finished off the corners for my simple layout.

I used the same layout for the inside.  That pink and silver paper really shines.

I used the same layout for my schoolboy card.  This time, I rotated the image long-ways on the card.  I used my colored pencils again for the image.

Here's the inside.  I added a handwritten sentiment to complete the card.

Just for Fun 2

As promised, here's the second card that I made today "just for fun."  I have been admiring these beautiful Emerald Faeries and I finally bought one the other day - Kayla and Twinkie.  I printed the image on Make It Colour paper and colored it with Copics.  I thought this card would be perfect for Mother's Day so I added a sentiment from Stamp It Australia available at Crafter's Companion.  The DP are all from a new paper pack I got by DCWV.  I got out my Big Shot and did a little embossing for the yellow background.  I love the effect it makes peeking out.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Emerald Faeries #19 - embossing
3. Simon Says - Mother's Day
4. Crafts 4 Eternity #62 - special Mum
5. Dream Valley #27 - Mother's Day
6. Fussy and Fancy #68 - fairies

Just for Fun 1

I finally went in the craft room today and made some cards just for fun.  I've been trying to get ahead in my DT work knowing that I'm going on vacation in a few weeks (not sure how well that's going).  I found that I really wanted to just play for a little while.  So I made two cards today.  I'll show one in this post and one in the next post.

Tammy (A Day for Daisies) provided this sweet freebie on her blog. I love her art and these little chicks are so precious.  This card definitely says how I've been feeling recently :-)  I printed the image on Make It Colour paper and colored it with Copics.  I love pink and yellow together - so bright and spring-y!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. A Day For Daisies #38 - dress it up with gingham
3. 2 Sisters #82 - spring colors

Crafter's Companion Stamp It Bookmarks

Hi all!  I saw these great magnetic bookmarks this weekend at the iCopic blog and I wanted to try making my own.  Here's one of my finished ones featuring Stamp It - A Map.  Scroll down to find out how to make three bookmarks from two 12"x12" sheets of paper.

You'll need two 12"x12" pieces of paper - one cardstock and one decorative paper.  First, cut your cardstock into three 4" wide strips.  Score each strip at 2", 6" and 10" as shown below.

Now, you'll need to glue your magnets at the inside of the 2" and 10" scored lines. Be sure to check that your magnets stick together before they're glued down.  Magnets have polarity and one side may repel the other magnet if the gluing isn't done with care.  Add glue around the 2" flaps.  Seal the flaps around the magnets.  You've completed the inside.

To decorate the outside, cut 6 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" squares of your decorative paper.  Center on each side of the bookmark and adhere.  This will give a small cardstock border around your decorative paper.  Decorate to your heart's content.  You'll have three bookmarks when you're done.

Here's my second bookmark with Hummingbird Wings.

I decorated the reverse side of this bookmark as well.

Here's my third bookmark featuring Bird Cage by Yi Hua Law.

I decorated the reverse side in a similar manner.

I'd like to enter these bookmarks in the following challenges:
1. Do You Stack Up #61 - things with wings
2. Paperplay #9 - something old (flowers and gems), something new (stamps, paper)
3. Allsorts #144 - spread your wings
4. The Crafty Pad #160 - share the good news
5. Stamptacular Sunday #14 - TEXT Me
