Computers and Tildas

We have a new addition to the progressive challenge at The Crafter's Cafe - Anything goes with a bow and sparkle. I have a set of 3"x3" cards featuring Swinging Cynthia, New Wings Cynthia, I Love You this Much Cynthia, Seamstress Cynthia, and Cynthia Digi Papers from The Stamping Boutique. You'll have to come back next week to see the finished product.

Peanut found this piece of folded cardboard and immediately claimed it as her "computer." I thought we could build on that with some stickers and glitter. I helped her layout the keyboard and then she decorated the screen and added the glitter mousepad.

Peanut is going to enter this in the kids challenge at The Crafter's Cafe. The challenge is back to school. What almost-four-year old doesn't need a computer for her first year at preschool?

I tried a card with Tilda stamped in dove gray ink to hide the lines. After coloring this image, I think that having an image that you want to have white areas on may not be the best use for the "disappearing" ink. I used Basic Grey (dark red, cream print) and DCWV (light green, flower red) for the papers.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
2. CES Challenge #49 - papers from two manufacturers
3. Fab 'n Funky #85 - Christmas
4. Just Magnolia #119 - Holiday Fun
5. Secret Crafter #147 - Christmas is coming
6. Magnolia Down Under Challenge #109 - inspired by a song - "Deck the Halls"
7. The Crazy Challenge - monthly Christmas challenge

Make It Colourful - Wet, Wet, Wet

Sorry this is late! I thought I scheduled it, but evidently I didn't.

This week's challenge at Make It Colourful is coloring an object that looks wet. I wasn't going to play this week because I thought this was a pretty scary challenge. Then I had an idea for a page in my art journal and I thought I would give it a try. Teamie Barbara shared some helpful tips with the team (don't worry I'll have them in the tips and tricks post tomorrow) and I gave a water drop a try. I'm not totally happy, but it's not bad for a first try. You don't have to be an expert color-er to join in the Make It Colourful - just give it a try!

The image I used is A Time To Relax from Make It Crafty. I made a fairly simple page in my art journal about our family habit of going to the bathroom to find a better attitude. You don't have to "go," it's just a way to take a break.
You can sign up for my birthday candy until August 18th (DT members welcome)!

Digi Dares #240

I recently discovered the Digi Dares challenge blog. You know me and challenges! This one was really difficult for me as part of the requirement was to make a two page layout. I used to always do 2 page layouts, but I've discovered I like single pages better. I scrapped a recent Peanut dance performance because I had lots of pictures to fill up the two pages.

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day with Fifi and Birthday Tags

I have two hybrid projects to share with you today featuring new Meredith Cardall Designs releases at 9th and Bloom.

First, I made a gift tag holder using Cirque de Birthday. I made the template in PSE and then added the papers and elements. I printed, cut, glued and assembled. Now, I'll have birthday gift tags whenever I need them!

Second, I have my hybrid card featuring Sunshine on a Cloudy Day by Meredith Cardall Designs. I used PSE to create a card template and add digital elements (cloud, ribbon, papers, wordart). I added a bit of drop shadow. Then, I added Fifi from Make It Crafty and printed the whole thing. I'd placed some flowers from the same digi scrap kit on the blank part of the printed paper. I colored Fifi with Copics. I cut out one of the flower that I printed and sewed a button over the printed button. I added some blue glitter pen accents and called it done.

So, hybrid cardmaking is a great way to focus on your coloring and still have a finished card. Just print on a cardstock you like to color on.

Art Journal Week 3: Gratitude

This week's HeArt Journal theme with The Greeting Farm was gratitude. I've had my page done all week, but hadn't gotten around to posting it yet. Peanut and I had fun with acrylic paints, glitter modge podge, and wire. Here's my page:

Here's Peanut's page:
